 Description

K9 Nose Work ®

Inspired by working detection dogs, K9 Nose Work® is the fun search and scenting activity for virtually all dogs and people. This easy to learn activity and sport builds confidence and focus in many dogs, and provides a safe way to keep dogs fit and healthy through mental and physical exercise.
K9 Nose Work® starts with getting your dog excited about using his nose to seek out a favorite toy or treat reward hidden in one of several boxes, expanding the game to entire rooms, exterior areas, and vehicles. As your dog grows more confident with his nose, target
odors are introduced, and competition skills are taught. And, if your goal is to compete in canine scent work sports the K9 Nose Work® method will build the foundation needed for all venues,
NACSW, AKC, UKC, C-wags, USCSS, and SDDA.

Nose Work: Multi-level

This is an ongoing multi-level class. Each dog is worked separately and the search area is modified to the level of the dog. We start by searching for food or toys in boxes and the dogs learn how to become a confident and independent searchers then we move to essence oil target odor. Handlers learn the observational and leash handling skills needed to excel in this sport. We search in different locations and cover all NACSW and AKC elements (interior, exterior, vehicles, containers, buried hides, and handler discrimination). New beginner dogs are welcome to join the class.

Bring high-value treats (in small pieces, soft, non-crumbly) or/and a favorite toy. Also beneficial to bring: easy to access treat bag, non-restrictive harness, and 9-11 foot leash. Be prepared to keep your dog crated or in your vehicle when not working.

Pre-requisites: Pet Dog 101 or seminar by instructor.
