Note to Students:

CGC and Therapy Dog classes are advanced level classes working toward passing the CGC and Therapy Dog tests. Each of these tests requires that dogs work without treats. If you and your dog are not quite proficient at some of the basic skills in these classes then we recommend you try our Canine Good Handler class to proof skills prior to eliminating treats in CGC and Therapy Dog classes.

7 Week Class

Canine Good Citizen Class: This class will focus on the 10 requirements for passing the AKC Canine Good Citizen test (CGC). The CGC test was designed to help pet owners feel confident that their dog is trained well enough to enjoy accompanying them out in public. The CGC has also become a standard first step for handlers wishing to train their dogs for therapy work. A CGC dog is more likely to be welcomed into rental properties, places of employment, and other pet dog friendly businesses. CGC teams are ambassadors for the canine community assuring that our beloved pets will continue to be allowed to accompany us throughout our communities.

The Canine Good Citizen Test will be administered in the last class in week #7.

7 Week Class

Therapy Dog Class: If you are interested in passing the Therapy Dog International therapy dog test, and working as a therapy dog team, join us for this seven week intensive class. This class is designed to specifically prepare teams to take the therapy dog test and to prepare for work as a therapy dog team. In class we will review the new Therapy Dog International testing requirements and touch upon other therapy dog certification programs. Teams will practice all the skills in a variety of exercises, settings, and circumstances, working methodically toward being able to perform the test successfully. The Love On a Leash test will be given in the last class.

Prerequisite: Canine Good Citizen certificate or instructor permission.

Class Cancellation Policy

Class Cancellation & Refund Policy

If you wish to drop out of class we will refund you the full amount, if you inform us two weeks prior to the start of class. If you wish to drop out of class and you inform us one week prior to the start of class, we will refund your 50%.

There are no refunds if you drop out of class with less than one weeks notice or after class has started.

Class Cancellations

If we have to cancel class for any reason, we will schedule a make up class. We will make every effort to stay with the original class schedule, but should a make up class be required there are no refunds for make up classes that you are unable to attend.
